Hi, I just joined and thought I should say hello...My name's Liz and I come from Sheffield, England. I started listening to the Doors last summer and am now a big fan. Seen as not many of my friends listen to them, I decided to join so I had people to talk to about them who appreciates how great they are!

People do this on forums all the time! They join and then just dissapear! You know, a friend of mine recently told me he cannot stand the Doors! I said it was a good thing that he was driving the car at the time or else I would have to throw him out! He said the Doors were just a  bunch of hippies. I replied (context is that this friend and I are both into the goth scene) that the Doors were the first goths as it were. I mean look at the lyrics: fire, death, love, reptiles, there is nothing hippie-ish about Jim Morrison. he was a dark soul, the were the precursors to Bauhaus in my opinion! Bauhaus are/were also just as theatrical, just as dark and just as intelligent. You may have gathered that I am a huge fan of them too! So much so, that I had their logo tattood on my back. I just congregate towards darker music.

Yes, I don't know why people join a forum if they have nothing to say. I know it does happen all the time though. There's like 247 members of this forum, that's alot of people for it to be so effing quiet!!

About the Doors being hippies... what an ignorant thing for someone to say. It is my opinion too, that they are the first goth band. I wouldn't love them so if they were a bunch of hippies, bands like that are/were a dime a dozen. You are right that there is nothing like that about the Doors. Did you try and educate your friend? Cause he is really missing out...

Maybe! The bands I am really into range from Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus to Placebo, Interpol, Muse, Sigur Ros. Recently saw Metallica live which was incredible! I listen to mostly goth stuff though, LOVE Him and 69 Eyes, Corpus Delecti, Siouxsie, Cure. I attend a little goth club in Cape Town called Gotham regularly. Ever heard the 69 Eyes song 'Wasting the dawn" ? It's a tribute to Jim Morrison and a beautiful song. I like old school rock like Led Zep and Rolling Stones. Wide ranging. How about you?

My tastes in music are wide-ranging also. I like more older stuff than you though, I think. I like Mercyful Fate (once it became just King Diamond they kind of sucked), Ozzy Osbourne, and earlier still, Black Sabbath. The Doors of course, Pink Floyd, and I also like some progressive type stuff like Savatage. I sometimes even like to listen to New Age and Classical (Mozart is the best) and I also like Marilyn Manson. Lots of different stuff. There's also this death metal band from Germany called Rammstein that I really like to listen to when I'm upset..

Hey, where is everyone. I'm home sick today with the flu. I wish more people would speak up here at the Lizard Queen's forum.

hello everyone! well i'm excited to be able to talk to so many people who love The Doors as much as I do. Not sure how this really works though. Anyway i am from a small town in oklahoma and had never heard of the Doors until my ex-boyfriend introduced me to them about 6 years ago and now i can't get enough of them. they're like a drug, if i don't have my daily fix of them i get really bitchy. Without them we wouldn't have alot of the music we enjoy today. I also like Ozzy, Manson, Cure and lots of others

Hi there! Sorry for late reply, time difference between my country and the US to blame! :) So yeah, hi and welcome. This is an insanely quiet forum, so that's why I have notification sent for any posts here, else I'd keep coming back to no new topics or replies. I am a 26 year old who just completed her degree in Eng Lit and plan to do honours next year. I live in Cape Town, South Africa, I am a Jim Morrison fanatic! Well, although you are a  late bloomer with regards to the Doors, it's really better late than never! Look forward to chatting some more!
